Minecraft on a smart TV

When a smart TV can run official Minecraft, how to install it from the TV store, and when to use a console instead.

Some living-room devices run Bedrock: Android TV and Fire TV are the usual examples, and a few other television stores list the game when Mojang has shipped a build for them. A “smart” badge on the bezel is not itself a promise.

Try the TV store first

  1. Connect the TV to a network you trust.
  2. Open its app store and search for Minecraft.
  3. Install only a result that names Mojang as the publisher.
  4. Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Bedrock.
  5. Pair a controller. A remote control is a poor pickaxe.

If the store has no listing

Stop. Do not sideload a phone APK onto the television. Use a console, a computer, or a phone instead.

Console editions on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch are often the better big-screen Minecraft, because the controller support and local co-op were designed for that room. The console page covers those storefronts.
