Pick the store before you pick a version number
Version numbers such as Bedrock 26.52 or Java 26.3 describe a release. They are not a separate product you sideload. The store delivers the current build after you buy the game.
Android
Google Play, publisher Mojang. The modern Pocket Edition.

Only if your TV store lists Minecraft. Otherwise use a console.
The computer path
- Open the official download page on minecraft.net.
- Download the Minecraft Launcher for your system.
- Sign in with a Microsoft account.
- Buy or redeem the edition you want. Java and Bedrock can be owned together, and they still save worlds separately.
- Press play and let the launcher fetch the current release.
What about an emulator?
You do not need an Android emulator on a PC to play Minecraft. Windows has Bedrock, and Windows, Mac, and Linux have Java. An emulator adds a phone interface and a second store account for no benefit if you already can run the computer editions.
If the store says you already own it
- Sign in with the same Microsoft, Google, or Apple account that bought it.
- On a shared family plan, check which profile owns the purchase.
- Console copies stay on that console's account. They do not unlock the phone version by themselves unless a store promotion says so.

Is there a free official download?
The retail game is paid. Education Edition is licensed for schools. Demos and trials, when a store offers them, are labeled as trials.
Can I move a world from a phone to a computer?
Bedrock worlds can often move between Bedrock devices with a Realm, a cloud sync where offered, or an export. A Bedrock world does not open in Java Edition.
